Wouldn't you know that as soon as this come out....so does Al Sharpton making his racial comments as well. Anything to play those race cards...for sympathy and manipulation. That type of strategy - playing race cards - is so old. These people weren't even at this incident..and the president, of all people, plays the race card. Boy, does he have a chip on his shoulder. ....Just what we all need as a leader of our country. God help us.

So saith you, as you rather clumsily play the race card yourself. It's been an ugly spectacle, and a shameful one, to see the racism in the USA, and the racist who harbor it, crawl from beneath their rocks since President Obama's election. That racism is always there, but now it's on horrid display for all the US, and all the world, to see. Shame on them all.

I've found it's most cops who have a chip on their shoulder.
As for what Obama said: I agree, they acted stupidly. I believe in personal freedoms, and for cops to arrest a man in his own home for disorderly conduct, everyone should be against that. If I have not commited a crime, I should be able to yell at a cop in my house without fear of arrest. I won't say Gates didn't act the fool, but like I said, he was in his own house. If I were him, I'd be more pissed at my neighbors than the cops! Seriously, they never saw this guy going into his own house before?

"I suspect that when the full picture comes out, he will regret the remarks he made."
If there is more information that hasn't come out yet...why don't they tell us what happened that changes the "picture"? Implying that something happened that nobody knows is kind of slimey...if something happened, present the evidence.

Martin Luther King was called a communist, a terrorist, a racist, a bigot an adulterer, and so many other names that doesn't need repeating. He was spied and lied on. This is the cost when you stand for what is right and refuse to back down.
When President Obama started the campaign and was inaugurated, he knew that it wouldn't be easy. Yet, he chose to run and to serve as President of the United States. The "powers that be" are rigid, obstinate and fierce". Why, because control is power. In the eyes of the "powers that be', relinquishing it is not an option. Underhanded means are used to tear down their opposers....little by little. Even, scandalous lies and misrepresetation of statements and actions.
In other words, I agree with President Obama. Police officer Crowley did handle this case stupidly...in that he allowed his ego and the fact that a black man had the audacity to talk back to him. So, he took it to an irresponsible level by arresting a man in his own home. Racial profiling is still in the picture; whether, this was the officer's intention or not. Picture this, you're in your home and someone accuses you of breaking and entering; or burglary. Picture how he felt, before judgment. If he reacted, he is older and knows the injustices inflicted upon his ancestors and the black men that have been unjustly accused. It may not mean anything to you or in your opinion justify his case.......but it's up close and personal to him and real in that it actually happened.

What does martin luther king have to do with this..of course you would agree that you hate the police and agree that obama is right..lets hope one day you need assistance..from the proud men and women that serve in law enforcement...and if that officer ,was black officer your mouth wouldnt be open...oh wait??? you would call him an uncle tom..quit living in the past...the last time i looked Obama is black.....you see only one color and have hate for others
Please stop projecting what you feel on me. I have every right to write my thoughts and hate has nothing to do with it. Those are your thoughts not mine.
What does Martin Luther King have to do with it? Everything.....he was accused; profiled and misunderstood as Gates protection of his right to speak in his home.
All people make mistakes like the one that has been made. President Obama is still young and needs to learn how to control his expressions. Even I, at 67, sometimes make verbal mistakes. In Anchorage, I was almost arrested for clapping my hands in front of a police officer. Even a non-verbal expression can get you in jail. The fact that there is racism in the U.S. does not mean that all people are racist. The police is not squicky clean as far as ratial profiling. But police is overworked, trying to do the best they can with the resources and training they have. Nobody is perfect. Once the professor proved that the house is his, the policemen should have apologized and went home. But this takes some humility, which is not taught to the U.S. police during training! Some officers are convinced that they can get away with almost anything in states like Alaska. There, I was once given a 70 dollar speeding-ona-curve ticket the same day my police union critical article was printed in the local newspaper. There were no witnesses. My speed was the same as it has been for ten years on that curve. They won. When I clapped my hands in outrage, they almost had me arrested for "threats." Yet, like the Cambidge professor, I was an innocent citizen going home after work! This tells me that police is sometimes overstepping its mandate and efforts should be made to retrain them to be more assertive! As far as the President, my advice is: leave race to Al Sharpton and Malcolm X! There are more important issues that you must focus upon!
